Cancer and Hospice Care

Cancer Care

As a massage therapist, I was trained in medical massage for cancer patients while at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I also practiced at the Breast Care Center at Stony Brook University and administered Nurturing Touch to patients receiving chemo treatments at Southampton Hospital.

Under the direction of Dr. Mehmet Oz, I was part of the team at the Complementary Care Center for cardiac and transplant patients at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center.

Recently, I worked at the Stony Brook Heart Institute at Stony Brook University Medical Center where I was on staff as the Director of Massage Therapy. I also conduct a lecture series on the benefits of massage therapy to reduce stress in cardiac patients. These experiences prove my expertise in cancer care for pregnant individuals.

Hospice/Palliative Care

The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) stands by the position that massage therapy can prevent and relieve suffering and support the best possible quality of life for those in hospice or palliative care. Studies confirmed that it is becoming the most frequently offered complimentary therapy for these types of patients.

Generally safe, therapeutic massage has shown to provide relief from certain symptoms associated with cancer and various other terminal illnesses. Moreover, studies have proven that massage therapy can increase peacefulness and significantly reduce pain, nausea, fatigue, depression, loss of sleep, and anxiety.
